MCC Foundation Elects New Director Dr. Saira Kazmi
This summer, the MCC Foundation Board of Directors elected its newest director, Dr. Saira Kazmi. Dr. Kazmi's unique blend of professional accomplishments, educational achievements and commitment to community engagement will be invaluable to advancing education and creating opportunities for aspiring students at Manchester. Regarding her role, Kazmi said:
“My husband and I have been blessed with fulfilling careers, and I am genuinely excited about the chance to contribute positively to our community's future and provide support to the deserving students at CT State Manchester. It's a privilege to be part of this journey and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those seeking better opportunities through education.”
Kazmi currently serves as the Executive Director of Machine Learning Engineering at CVS Health in Hartford, CT. Her previous roles include Director of Machine Learning and Incubation Lab at The Hartford, Scientific Data Architect at The Jackson Laboratory, Senior Big Data Engineer at Thomson Reuters, and Research Software and Data Engineer at UConn-Tech Partners.
Kazmi holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from UConn, where she also earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees. She conducted her postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University. In addition to her outstanding academic and professional achievements, Dr. Kazmi is a dedicated volunteer and mentor. She actively engages with Women in Science at Yale as a mentor and contributes as the Co-Chair for Women in Technology Lean In Circles. Her mentorship extends to InsurTech Hartford and StartUp Bootcamp, showcasing her commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation within the community.
